Total cost of ownership
Total cost for the installer, service organisation and door owner
Total cost of ownership (TCO) is a concept that may vary depending on who one talks to. In order to give a comprehensive picture of the Hi-O system’s impact on the total economy, we have to look at the cost of installation, deployment, service and maintenance and system expansion.
Installation
The installation work is simplified by the free topology offered by Hi-O and that each device is connected by only four wires. Hi-O devices are connected to the network through plugs or screw terminals.
Deployment
Hi-O compatible products will operate with default configuration as soon as power is applied. There is no need to make any settings, it all works right out of the box. In order to configure or tailor a Hi-O compatible system to specific needs, the Hi-O Manager tool is used. Hi-O Manager is a PC based configuration tool that allows modification of Hi-O device parameters and system behaviour. Using Hi-O manager for system configuration saves a lot of time.
Service and maintenance
All parties will benefit from planned service and from minimised unplanned service.
The Hi-O system enables planned service and predictive maintenance by means of statistics and status reports. This feature enables replacement of a malfunctioning component before it breaks down. Using the Hi-O Manager allows the service engineer to check and report the system’s health status. This of course affects the maintenance costs and the total economy in a positive direction.
Expansion
Sooner or later there will be a need to expand a door system with more features or new functionality. A well documented system makes the process easier. The expansion will be very simple when using Hi-O components. The new components added to the Hi-O network will immediately connect to the existing components and automatically assume the required functionality. The Hi-O Manager is used to guide the installer through the process flow. No other measures need to be taken. It’s plug-and-play, right out of the box.
