Inner Range’s Concept 4000 Integrates with ASSA ABLOY’s Hi-O™ and Aperio™ Technologies

ASSA ABLOY is pleased to announce its collaboration with Inner Range to integrate ASSA ABLOY’s innovative Hi-O and Aperio technologies with Inner Range’s Concept system for CCTV, security, access and automation. Inner Range will support the Hi-O and Aperio technologies in two new Concept 3000/4000 LAN modules, scheduled for release during Q1 2010.

“This collaboration will increase the adoption of the Hi-O and Aperio technologies in the Pacific region. It also offers interesting opportunities in other markets such as the UK” ASSA ABLOY’s Business Manager of Electronic Access Control, Michael Söderberg said. “This integration is another proof point of the attractiveness and potential of Hi-O and Aperio technologies in the market”.

The Aperio technology complements existing electronic access control systems, providing end users with a simple, intelligent way to upgrade the controllability and security level of their premises. The new technology integrates mechanical and electronic systems, providing a world first, simple, intelligent way to upgrade the controllability and security level of buildings and facilities.

Hi-O is a new standardised technology that enables all devices around an access control door to communicate with each other and become a lot smarter. The technology is based on CAN, a reliable technology used in the automotive industry for many years. Through its plug-and-play, data communication and advanced diagnostics capabilities, cost of ownership of electronic access control doors can be reduced dramatically.

“The two new Concept modules - 995027 for Aperio and 995026 for Hi-O - integrate into the Concept system and are programmed just as if they were a standard Inner Range two door controller, though there are one or two new options available” said Vin Lopes, Managing Director of Inner Range.

About Aperio

The heart of Aperio is a short distance wireless communication protocol combined with RFID reader capabilities and a locking mechanism. It is designed to serve as the link between an online electronic access system and a mechanical lock.

The name Aperio comes from Latin meaning to uncover, make accessible, unclose or open.

Aperio is easily integrated with electronic access control systems, through a standard RS485 interface. Any number of existing doors can be equipped with Aperio-enabled locks, and at a cost level far below installing hard wired electronic access control doors everywhere.

The open architecture gives a standardized way of connecting, with standardized interface, resulting in a future safe installation not being trapped into proprietary solutions.

The Aperio technology is designed for future security demands, e.g. it uses AES encryption via a wireless connection. The technology is fully compatible with RFID technologies, which means that the users do not need to change existing cards.

Expanding an electronic access system with Aperio is cost-effective and adds to the benefit of investments already made. No doors and no locking systems need to be exchanged, only upgraded with Aperio enabled products.
